Race day was welcomed with a sunny sky and no wind, a great improvement on the icy day before. Riders started rolling in and practice runs were underway by 10:30am. It wasn’t long before the pace was picked up and riders were already competing heavily before lunch. Racing got underway at 02:00pm and the vibe was electric. There was a lot of drama down at the chicane as is expected, most races were decided in that section.
Spectators started piling in and by the time racing had started, there were over 200 excited adrenalin junkies cheering on the athletes. A new king was crowned in the Open Downhill Skateboard category, Russell Naude took another clean sweep in the luge categories and we are proud to say we had a junior and womens downhill skateboard category as well. This was the first time in South Africa that there has been a category especially for the women.
A total of 50 athletes entered across all 5 racing categories as well as the non-racing category. A great weekend was had by all and we at First Nature could not be happier with the result. Below is a link of the top riders results. Stay tuned for a full race report and full results.

Organization and vibe was great. Realy good to have been part of the spectators!!
