KING OF THE FORT Schanskop Downhill Challenge 2011 was met with great excitement this year. Athletes from all over South Africa gethered at a very chilly track beside the majestic Voortrekker Monument in Pretoria. Everything ran quite smoothly and as riders arrived, they quickly got into their leathers and were shuttled up the hill. Practice runs ran smoothly for the morning and just before lunch the race was stopped due to an unfortunate crash by one of the Cape Town “groms” Adam Lincoln-Lewis. He was taken to hospital and our thoughts and prayers are with Adam and his family. We wish him a speedy recovery. Qualifying got underway as the cold seemed to settle in for the afternoon and there were some surprises and some blistering times posted. Please see link below for the qualifying times.
