First Nature is excited to announce the recruitment of Sam Jakins to the First Nature Race Squad.
Sam is a 15 year old downhill skateboarder from Cape Town. He is hardly worthy of the grom title as he has been holding his own when it comes to races. Although Sam has only been riding for 1 year, he has already competed in 3 races, one of which being the internationally acclaimed Hot Heels Africa. Sam was ranked second in the junior category of the SAGRA National Championship 2010.
Earlier in 2011, Sam took top prize in the junior category at the High Rising Downhill Xtreme wowing the crowd and fellow riders with his ability to lead from start to finish in just about every heat during practice and racing. He also fared really well against the open riders.
Apart from being an outgoing and passionate skater, Sam is also involved with Baboon Longboards which is a company started by himself, his dad, uncle and cousin Alyosha Diebold who is also doing really well for his age (18). Baboon Longboards is a skateboard import and distribution company with the core value of spreading the stoke.
Sam’s passionate attitude towards the growth of downhill skateboarding is one of the main reasons why we have decided to sponsor him. His values, attitude, stoke and riding skill align very strongly with the values of First Nature and we are very excited to see what Sam has in store at upcoming races in 2011. Modestly, he says his 2011 goals are to ride more and spread the stoke but we are sure he is going to continue to turn heads in the downhill scene.
Welcome to the team, Sam!
